On the 24th of March 2018, the Introduction to Public Relations students organised an event called “Hey! Melaka! Chun!” for the Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism students of Damansara and Subang campuses. The event, which took place in the city of Melaka, was attended by 111 students. The objective of this study day trip was to further the students’ knowledge about tourism and offer them deeper insight into the historical aspects of the sector. The students had assembled at the campus entrance by 7.30am. As they left the campus and started their journey to Melaka, they were really excited to explore Melaka.
As soon as they arrived in Melaka, the students proceeded to visit places such as Stadhuys, A’Famosa, St Paul’s Church, Christ Church and Maritime Museum. In Jonker Street, there were lots of shops selling different kinds of clothes, souvenirs and food. Everyone enjoyed themselves as they went exploring freely. After that, they went off for lunch. At around 1.00pm, they gathered near Menara Taming Sari to wait for their buses and van. They left Melaka at 2.30pm and headed back to Kuala Lumpur.
All in all, everyone had a good time on this trip. The Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism students had a wonderful time exploring the rich culture and heritage of Melaka, while the Introduction to Public Relations students had a rewarding experience organising the event.
